New UK impetus for the world’s most sustainable floor

No other floor is better for our planet than cork.
Every gram of cork used in our floors will save many times its weight in CO2 from our atmosphere. It does this whilst growing as bark on the cork oak tree.
A cork oak can live for 200 years, removing CO2 from the atmosphere throughout its life and becoming more efficient at doing this each time its bark is harvested (every 9 years).
This means that when a cork floor is laid in an average domestic room – say, a kitchen or dining room – it can save over a tonne of CO2!
Now, thanks to a new UK distribution deal, UK home lovers will be able to choose these beautiful, sustainable floors and buy them either online or through a local retailer.
Footfall – known for years as an environmentally-aware business whose rubber crumb underlays are almost 100% recycled – has now agreed with Amorim in Portugal to handle the UK distribution their of cork floors.
Every square metre saves CO2
Every gram of cork used in the manufacture of our cork floors will have helped to prevent CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
This is very important in domestic settings and makes an even more dramatic difference in large commercial floors – every square metre that’s laid contributing hugely to the essential reduction of greenhouse gas emissions that the future of our planet depends on.
