Is cork the most sustainable material on Earth?

These beautiful cork oak trees live for up to 200 years, taking in CO2 and storing carbon all that time. We harvest their bark (the cork) many times during the life of each tree and it removes many times more CO2 from the atmosphere than the weight of all the cork we take from it.
What about cork products – are they also sustainable?
Absolutely. Take our floors, for example.
Every tile or plank contains cork and that, in our opinion, makes it better for our planet than any other hard flooring choice. Every gram of cork used in the manufacture of our floors has contributed to reducing CO2 in our atmosphere.
So what does that mean, exactly? Well, if you lay an All-Cork Wood or Cork Design floor in an average domestic living room, the tiles or planks will have helped to reduce the CO2 in our atmosphere by over 1 tonne!
The nicest hard floor to walk on
Hard floors are hard-wearing, easy to clean and don’t harbour dust and mites like carpet can. But you wouldn’t say they’re comfortable. Unless, that is, you were talking about our cork floors.
Our floors are flexible and resilient. They feel comfy underfoot and, as kids will confirm, they’re nicer to play on than ordinary hard floors. When used in shops and offices, people find our floors less tiring after a day’s work. And when you lay one of our floors at home, it’s more welcoming, more relaxing, warmer and more natural. You could think of it as a reward for helping the planet.
Love your planet. Love cork floors!
